Richmondites can have their say on 20 shortlisted designs in this year’s Street Banner Contest.

Semifinalist designs can be viewed on LetsTalkRichmond.ca and people can vote for their favourite. Designs can also be viewed from the city’s website and votes can be cast by emailing parksprograms@richmond.ca.

The 10 designs that receive the most votes—one from each theme—will be the winners of the 2020 Street Banner Contest and the designs will be showcased across Richmond. All votes must be cast by 11:59 p.m. on Oct. 12.

In the first round of judging, a panel made up of community volunteers had the difficult task of narrowing down over 650 submissions to 20. This year’s submissions include a range of striking imagery and design from photographs, artwork and graphic design.

Over 1,000 street banners will be produced featuring the winning images. They will be installed on banner poles to enhance the city’s spirit and beautify the downtown core and gateways from March 2021 to February 2022.

Richmond’s Street Banner Contest is a part of the broader Partners for Beautification Program, which invites community members to become actively involved in the beautification of their city. For more information on this program, visit www.richmond.ca/parks/about/beautification.
