Richmond resident Lisa Tsang loves watching TV dramas, but didn’t re-enact any emotional scenes after realizing she won the $1 Million Guaranteed Prize from the August 22, 2020 Lotto 6/49 draw.

Tsang heard there was a winner from Richmond and decided to check her numbers on bclc.com.

“When I realized I had won, I was in shock and disbelief, but remained very calm,” Tsang recalled.

The frequent Lotto 6/49 player managed to maintain her poker face in front of her husband and daughter, after telling them she was B.C.’s newest millionaire.

“I was really excited to share the news with my husband, who didn’t believe me at first,” Tsang said. “I told my daughter I was a winner too, but like my husband, (she) was very skeptical.”

Her family finally believed her once she showed them the winning ticket.

Tsang purchased her ticket at the Shoppers Drug Mart in Richmond’s Garden City Centre and claimed her prize using BCLC’s alternate prize-claim process. She says her first priority for her win is to pay off her mortgage.

“A million dollars is a lot of money,” she said. “I will have more financial freedom.”

So far in 2020, B.C. lottery players have redeemed more than $81 million in winnings from Lotto 6/49.

Lotto 6/49 is a nationwide lottery game drawn on Wednesdays and Saturdays after 7:30 p.m. (PST). Anyone can win, and #YouCouldBeNext! Watch some amazing lottery winner stories online. Each draw includes a Guaranteed Prize Draw of $1 million.
