A Richmond woman is dead following a serious crash in the Massey Tunnel overnight.
Just after midnight on Sept. 2, a vehicle travelling southbound on Highway 99 crossed the centre line inside the tunnel, colliding with an oncoming vehicle. The driver of the northbound vehicle, a 61-year-old Richmond woman, died in the crash. The passenger in her vehicle and the driver of the southbound vehicle were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
S/Sgt. Quentin Frewing said alcohol may be a factor in the crash, but the investigation is in its early stages so other factors are being considered. He asks that anyone with dash camera footage or who may have been a witness contact police as soon as possible.
The tunnel was closed for seven hours overnight after the crash. Anyone with information is asked to contact Cst. Lee Sandau at 604-970-8691.
