Richmond’s emergency response shelter will continue to operate this fall and winter during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Originally scheduled to close in August, the city has extended the shelter’s lease until the end of March 2021. During the winter months, the facility will provide a safe location to those without permanent shelter.
Located in the Minoru Seniors Activity Centre, the shelter is a collaboration between the city, BC Housing and Turning Point Recovery Society. It supplements the city’s permanent shelter, which has limited capacity due to physical distancing requirements.
