BC has appointed a new innovation commissioner who will advocate for the tech sector.

The position was created in 2018 to promote economic innovation. Dr. Gerri Sinclair—a member of the Toronto Montreal Stock Exchange board of directors and former director of the Vancouver Airport Authority, Telus and Ballard Power—will begin her one-year term today.

“Gerri is a champion for the technology and innovation sector,” said Jobs Minister Michelle Mungall. “She will serve our province well as we build a resilient, globally competitive economy that provides family-supporting jobs throughout the province.”

As innovation commissioner, Sinclair will support the implementation of innovation and technology-related priorities to expand BC’s tech sector. She will also help advance initiatives to recover from the impacts of COVID-19.
