Two local seniors groups have partnered in a fundraising campaign to assist victims of a violent storm in El Salvador that has left thousands of families homeless.

Angels There For You Home Health Care and the Senior Link Independent Living Society are asking for the public’s help in the El Salvador Relief Fund. They are accepting funds as well as donations of household items and food to send a container to the Central American nation.

“In the middle of the COVID-19 quarantine, (Tropical Storm) Amanda destroyed thousands of homes, flooded whole cities and destroyed crops,” said project organizer Patricia Cruz, managing director of Angels There For You. “Many of the affected are seniors and children.”

Items can be dropped off weekdays at 104-7831 Steveston Hwy. Tax receipts will be issued for donations over $25.
