Health Minister Adrian Dix and provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry announced seven new cases of COVID-19 today for a total of 2,360 cases in British Columbia.

This is the lowest new case count announced since early March.

One more person has died of causes related to COVID-19 for a total of 131.

There have been no new long-term care or assisted-living facility outbreaks in the last day. In total, 15 facilities and five acute-care units have active cases.

Health teams continue to provide support to community outbreaks in the poultry sector, at the Mission Institution and with those connected to the Kearl Lake plant in Alberta.

Dix and Henry also announced the launch of a provincewide survey to gather information about individual experiences and actions during the pandemic so far.

The “Your story, our future” survey can be accessed through the BC Centre for Disease Control website:

Those who cannot complete the survey online or need assistance in another language can call 1 833 707-1900 toll-free to take the survey over the phone. Assistance is available seven days a week between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. (Pacific time), in 150 languages.

Henry and Dix say information gathered from the survey will help inform decisions made in the weeks ahead. It also provides an opportunity for people to express interest in participating in two important future initiatives: serology blood testing to determine immunity in BC, and using technology to co-ordinate information sharing for contact tracing.

They also acknowledged International Nurses Day, an opportunity to recognize the contributions of nurses in BC and around the world.
