With Richmond businesses continuing to be impacted by the COVID-19 crisis, the city is launching a virtual business support centre to provide local businesses with accurate and timely information.

“Many Richmond businesses are experiencing significant challenges as a result of the necessary measures to halt the spread of COVID-19,” said Mayor Malcolm Brodie. “The economic impacts in almost every sector are devastating. While some businesses have been able to adapt through online platforms or modified products and services, others have had to temporarily close.”

Brodie said providing a central location for support and direction to business operators is a priority during this difficult time.

The business support centre will provide information about city services and initiatives, as well as other support programs and resources from all levels of government and other agencies.

The business support centre is open weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. through the following channels:

• Phone: 604-276-4114

• Email: businesshelp@richmond.ca

• Online: www.businessinrichmond.ca/covid-19

The city’s economic development office is also working on other supports for local businesses and residents, including:

• Connecting displaced workers with in-demand jobs

• Helping businesses respond to government procurement opportunities

• Expanding the Richmond Food Recovery Network to match more surplus food with social agencies

• Launching a “Support Local Business” campaign in collaboration with Tourism Richmond and other partners
