The provincial state of emergency in BC has been extended through to April 14.

“The next 14 days are critically important in our province’s unprecedented fight against COVID-19. What we do today will affect what our doctors, nurses and first responders face in the days and weeks ahead,” said Premier John Horgan in his address to the province Tuesday. “Today, we’re asking all British Columbians to re-commit to doing their part. There are early signs that our actions are making a difference, and we can’t stop now.”

The province continues to follow the orders set out last week by Public Safety Minister Mike Farnworth, including active participation in the supply chain, enforcing the public health officer’s orders and prohibiting secondary sale of goods and supplies.

The provincial government has taken several other steps to support people during this time, including income supports, a temporary rental supplement, amendments to the Employment Standards Act and increased seniors’ support.

The province has created 1-888-COVID-19 (1-888-268-4319) to connect British Columbians needing non-medical information (travel recommendations, physical distancing and government support) about COVID-19. The call line is open from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week. Service is available in 110 languages. People with questions related to their health and COVID-19 should call 811.
