Evan Dunfee is known as a stand-up guy, so it should come as no surprise that he’s fully supportive of the Canadian Olympic and Paralympic committees’ decision to not send athletes to the Games this summer.

Shortly after Sunday evening’s announcement, Dunfee tweeted “I’m proud to be a member of @TeamCanada / @CDNParalympics. Thank you for being global role models. We, the athletes, can now focus on being role models at home. We can safely follow the guidelines without worrying about what will happen come July. Thank you.”

The Canadian Olympic Committee has asked the International Olympic Committee and Tokyo 2020 Organizing Committee to postpone the Games for one year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Canadian Olympic and Paralympic committees were the first to say their athletes would not compete in the Games if they go ahead as scheduled July 24 to Aug. 9.
