Community invited to explore policing at Doors Open Richmond 2024

Richmond RCMP is pleased to announce its participation in the 17th annual Doors Open Richmond event, taking place in person on June 8-9, 2024. This event offers the public a unique opportunity to explore behind-the-scenes operations of various government organizations, local businesses, and cultural sites throughout the city.

As part of this event, Richmond RCMP will host activities at the City Centre Community Policing Office, located at 6931 Granville Avenue, on Saturday, June 8, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is designed to foster community engagement and enhance public understanding of the RCMP’s role in promoting safety and security in Richmond.

During the event, visitors can expect:

  • Tours of police vehicles: Officers will provide guided tours of several police vehicles, offering an up-close look at the tools and technology used in daily policing activities.
  • Meet and greet: Officers will be available to answer questions, discuss community concerns, and distribute stickers and souvenirs to attendees.
  • Safety Bear appearances: Safety Bear will make special appearances throughout the day, helping to educate children on important safety topics in a fun and engaging way.

Richmond RCMP will also showcase its latest crime prevention and reduction initiatives, including:

  • Spot the Target: a challenge for attendees to identify items in vehicles that may attract theft.
  • You Etch It, We Catch It: A catalytic converter theft prevention program
  • Buy & Sell Safe Exchange program: A program facilitating safer online commerce exchanges.
