Ways to celebrate Asian Heritage Month in Richmond

The City of Richmond is proud to celebrate Asian Heritage Month this May, honouring the rich cultural heritage and significant contributions of Canadians of Asian descent. With a series of educational and engaging activities planned throughout the month, residents and visitors are encouraged to participate and learn more about the diverse Asian cultures that enrich our community.

Event highlights for Asian Heritage Month in Richmond:

  • Children’s Day at Britannia Shipyards: Friday, May 3-Sun, May 5, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Celebrate Children's Day with a journey through time at the Britannia Shipyards, exploring the stories of early Asian immigrants.
  • Chinese Language Tour at Richmond Art Gallery: Saturday, May 18, 2-3 p.m.
  • Experience a guided tour in Chinese, featuring current exhibitions and insights into contemporary Asian art.
  • The Chinese Ink and Brush Society Exhibition at Richmond Cultural Centre: Apr 30-May 31
  • Immerse yourself in the beauty of traditional Chinese ink and brush art, showcasing works by local artists.
  • The Suitcase Project at Steveston Museum and Post Office: ongoing until Sep 1
  • Discover personal stories of migration, identity and belonging from Canadians of Asian heritage through this compelling exhibition.
  • Various activities at the Richmond Public Library
  • Mindfulness Tai-Chi, Multicultural Calligraphy and Tang Poetry.
