Sockeyes alumni game Saturday

With a little help from their friends—the Richmond Ravens—this year’s Richmond Sockeyes alumni game promises to be extra special.
The Ravens’ Midget rep team is selling tickets to this Saturday’s 18th annual Sockeyes scholarship tilt, with partial proceeds going to support the girl’s’ provincial championships in March.
The game, scheduled to begin at 5:45 pm Jan. 18 at Minoru Arena, has to date raised about $300,000 to assist past and present players with their education.
This year’s alumni lineup, which will face the current Pacific Junior Hockey League Sockeyes, will feature many familiar faces, Coached by Brad Swanson, Brooke Odenvald and Doug Paterson, those suiting up include such past stalwarts as Jordan Oye, Stephen Sawada, Patrick Hunter, Jordan Imoo, Keenan Webb, Clayton Wright, Alex Koch, Mike Ball, Carter and Turner Popoff, Paul Hobbs, Eli Wiebe, Dean Allison, Trevor Hamaguchi, Ryan Johnson, Clayton Chessa, Sean Thorsteinson, Jordan and Tyler Andrews, Kootenay Alder and former NHLer Raymond Sawada.
“It’s always a fun evening,” stresses Paterson.
Also of note, the current Sockeyes will be led offensively by Ryleigh Anderson who is currently sixth in league scoring with 51 points. He along with teammates Noah Kelly and Craig Schouten have also been selected to play in the upcoming PJHL all-star game Jan. 26 in Delta.
