Richmond’s own Camryn Rogers has continued to etch her name into track and field sports history. The 24 year old Richmond local won gold at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest with an astounding hammer throw of 77.22 metres, making her the second Canadian woman to win a gold medal at the World Championships.

Canada swept the hammer throw division with fellow Canadian Ethan Katzberg winning gold in the men’s hammer throw event.

Richmond’s Evan Dunfee also participated in the World Athletics Championship, as he race walked in the men’s 35-kilometre and the 20-kilometre race walk, where he set a Canadian record time of 1:18:03. In both races, Dunfee would fall short of a podium finish, placing fourth.
