This year, for the first time, Richmond Christmas Fund registration and distribution will happen at Lansdowne Centre.
A program of Richmond Cares, Richmond Gives (RCRG), the Christmas Fund supports residents facing financial hardship, providing them with grocery vouchers, toys, and gift cards so they can enjoy a holiday celebration.
The Christmas Fund recently lost access to its longtime location, necessitating the search for a new home. Lansdowne was quick to answer the call.
“We’re incredibly grateful to Lansdowne, and its owner, Vanprop, for giving us space at the mall,” says Ed Gavsie, president and chief executive officer of RCRG. “On short notice, they stepped up in a big way, ensuring that the Christmas Fund will once again be there for our neighbours in need.”
At Lansdowne Centre, the Christmas Fund will be open on select days from Nov. 15 to Dec. 9, in a storefront next to ICBC. The new location means the program will be more accessible, with nearly four times as many registration days as previous years.
