Bundle up and head down to Steveston Village for a season of festive events, activities and attractions during Winter in the Village. From now until Tuesday, Dec. 31, the village is host to dozens of free or low-cost activities for locals and visitors to get into the holiday spirit.

Whether you enjoy perusing locally made crafts, listening to festive tunes, visiting decorated historic sites or taking that perfect selfie in front of twinkling lights, there is something for everyone.

There will be plenty of photo opportunities with new Christmas light installations, including interactive dancing lights in Steveston Museum’s Town Square Park, presented by Tourism Richmond. Join in on the dancing during Songs in the Snow, when local musicians and school groups perform Saturday, Dec. 7, 14, and 21 from 4 to 6 p.m.

Visitors can enjoy the lights daily from 3 to 9 p.m. Additional light displays have been installed in front of Steveston Tram, at No. 1 Road and Bayview Street, and on the Imperial Cannery frame along Imperial boardwalk.

Local businesses are joining in with dazzling window displays to compete in the new Winter Window Contest. Visitors are encouraged to explore the Village and vote for their favourite window displays by dropping off their completed ballot at the Steveston Museum or the Steveston Tram.

Additional family-friendly events that include writing letters to Santa, scavenger hunts and ornament making will be in full swing at various historic sites. The Gulf of Georgia Cannery will be lit up with the Festival of Trees and Britannia Shipyards will be the venue for the third annual Heritage Christmas Craft Fair on Saturday, Dec. 7.

Stay on the lookout, there are sure to be lots of Santa sightings in Steveston throughout December.
