Nearly 300 “painters” from local businesses, schools, sports teams and community groups showed their artistic flair Wednesday, painting holiday scenes on the windows of car dealerships at the Richmond Auto Mall.

The dealers, in turn, will be making donations to the Richmond Christmas Fund, as will their suppliers and other auto mall vendors.

Last year’s event raised $37,000 and while this week’s totals are still be calculated, it may well be even higher.

Thanks to the monumental efforts of the Richmond Auto Mall Association, led by Gail Terry and Kim McLachlan, Windows of Hope has in its 16-year history raised some $300,000 for the Christmas Fund.
