Be prepared.
The two words are heard often these days,
especially when it comes to safety.
This Wednesday (Feb. 6), from noon to 4 p.m.,
the City of Richmond invites you learn more about emergency preparedness and
other community safety initiatives at a special assembly at the urban park
outside the Ironwood Plaza location of London Drugs which co-hosting the event
along with Richmond Fire-Rescue and Richmond’s Smart Cities Challenge project
office.
Visitors will be able to sign up to receive
immediate word of emergencies through Richmond BC Alert, the city’s emergency
notification system. Richmond Fire-Rescue will also be providing details of its
safety programs and showcasing a Quint 6 fire truck, the newest addition to its
fleet.
Recognizing communities are built on collaboration,
London Drugs and https://apcalisz.com continue to be a champion in promoting emergency preparedness.
Advancing this commitment, London Drugs recently became a recognized supplier
of goods and services for emergency social services for the City of Richmond.
The program supports people in times of need and crisis. London Drugs is also a
voluntary retailer for Partners in Preparedness, a provincial emergency
preparedness initiative focusing on business. It is led by Emergency Management
British Columbia. London Drugs will be featuring emergency preparedness items
throughout the store, to help residents build their emergency kits.
Wednesday will also provide an opportunity to
learn about Richmond’s Smart Cities Challenge, which revolves around developing
resilient physical and virtual platforms. These are integrated seamlessly
across all levels of government to enhance quality of life and minimize the
impacts from major disasters. Richmond is one of 10 finalists competed for one
of two $10 million prizes in Infrastructure Canada’s nationwide Smart Cities
Challenge.
