Here’s your chance to have someone in the
arts community, either a leader or supporter, recognized. The city and the
Richmond Arts Coalition have opened nominations for eleventh annual Richmond
Arts Awards.
According to city spokesperson, Ted Townsend:
“The Richmond Arts Awards program recognizes the achievements in and
contributions to the arts by Richmond residents, artists, educators, organizers
and business leaders. To date, the program has attracted more than 200
nominations across six categories, recognizing both well-established
institutions and rising stars in Richmond’s arts community.”
Nominations are being sought in the following
categories:
-Arts Education
-Artistic Innovation
-Business and the Arts
-Cultural Leadership
-Volunteerism
-Youth Arts
Townsend says, “All artistic disciplines are
eligible: visual, performing, literary and culinary arts, as well as craft,
environmental arts and new media.”
Three finalists in each of the six categories
will be named in April and award winners will be announced in a special
ceremony hosted by Mayor Malcolm Brodie at Richmond City Hall this May.
Nominations can be
submitted online until Friday, March 15.
