It’s back. Steveston’s winter artisanal market opens Oct. 6 at the Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site. With all the fun, food, and crafty options you would find at a summer outdoor market, the Cannery Farmers’ Market moves indoors to the cozy wooden atmosphere of our historic cannery.

With the scent of fresh bread wafting throughout, going to this market is an event, so much more than just a place to buy a host of wonderful offerings.

Locally-baked, grown, caught, and crafted products join seasonal events and activities for all ages. Free performances by home-grown musicians and entertainers add to the festival atmosphere whether the weather outside if frightful or delightful, the winter artisanal market is the place to be.

Stephanie Halapija, executive director of the Gulf of Georgia Cannery Society says, “It supports our local small businesses, vendors and community while offering an interesting heritage experience for market-goers. We are especially proud of our relationship with the Richmond Food Security Society, which is returning for workshops and learning opportunities as part of the market experience this season.”

“The passion of our staff and volunteers makes the market a truly spectacular and meaningful event. I look forward to digging into all of the autumn baked goods, taking in the special musical performances, and mingling with our visitors at this year’s markets,” Halapija says.

The museum, 12138 Fourth Avenue at Moncton, Richmond (Steveston Village), is open year round. On market Sundays, admission is free and guided tours are offered by donation.
