B.C. reports COVID-19 data from June 26 to July 2

In the past week (June 26 to July 2) there were 765 new COVID-19 cases reported in B.C., bringing the overall total to 375,357 since the pandemic began.

Of the new cases, 156 were in the Vancouver Coastal Health region (including Richmond), 339 in the Fraser Health region, 139 in the Island Health region, 97 in the Interior Health region, and 34 in the Northern Health region.

As of today, there are 369 people currently hospitalized with COVID-19 in B.C., 36 of whom are in critical care.

There were 172 new hospital admissions in the past week (June 26 to July 2). Of those, 38 were in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, 94 in the Fraser Health region, 29 in the Island Health region, six in the Interior Health region, and five in the Northern Health region. According to the B.C. Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) report, these numbers are expected to increase as data become more complete.

The number of COVID-19 admissions in the previous week (June 19 to 25) increased to 209 from the 169 originally reported last week.

The 30-day all-cause mortality report, which includes COVID-19 and non-COVID-19 related deaths occurring within 30 days from a positive lab result, indicates there were 24 deaths between June 26 and July 2. 

Of those who died, five lived in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, 10 in the Fraser Health region, three in the Island Health region, six in the Interior Health region, and zero in the Northern Health region. According to the B.C. Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) report, these numbers are expected to increase as data become more complete.

The number of COVID-19 deaths in the previous week (June 19 to 25) increased to 33 from the 17 originally reported last week. Deaths the week before that (June 12 to 18) increased by one to 33.

Locally, the latest data from the BCCDC indicates that there were 28 cases in Richmond last week (June 26 to July 2), up from 23 the previous week (June 19 to 25).
