B.C. reports COVID-19 data from May 29 to June 4

In the past week (May 29 to June 4) there were 895 new COVID-19 cases reported in B.C., bringing the overall total to 372,611 since the pandemic began.

Of the new cases, 211 were in the Vancouver Coastal Health region (including Richmond), 328 in the Fraser Health region, 161 in the Island Health region, 151 in the Interior Health region, and 44 in the Northern Health region.

As of yesterday (June 9), there were 325 people hospitalized with COVID-19, 28 of whom were in critical care.

There were 219 new hospital admissions in the past week (May 29 to June 4). Of those, 38 were in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, 91 in the Fraser Health region, 54 in the Island Health region, 29 in the Interior Health region, and seven in the Northern Health region. According to the B.C. Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) report, these numbers are expected to increase as data become more complete.

The number of COVID-19 admissions in the previous week (May 22 to 28) increased to 310 from the 265 originally reported last week.

The 30-day all-cause mortality report, which includes COVID-19 and non-COVID-19 related deaths occurring within 30 days from a positive lab result, indicates there were 43 deaths between May 29 and June 4. 

Of those who died, nine lived in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, eight in the Fraser Health region, 14 in the Island Health region, 10 in the Interior Health region, and two in the Northern Health region. According to the B.C. Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) report, these numbers are expected to increase as data become more complete.

The number of COVID-19 deaths in the previous week (May 22 to 28) increased to 61 from the 44 originally reported last week. Deaths the previous week (May 15 to 21) increased by three to 75.

Locally, the latest data from the BCCDC indicates that there were 34 cases in Richmond last week (May 29 to June 4), up slightly from 33 the previous week (May 22 to 28).
