Richmond RCMP was called to the 7000 block of Ackroyd Road (just west of No. 3 Road) this morning around 11 a.m. after a report of shots fired was received.

When they arrived, officers found two deceased victims, both of whom had suffered gunshot wounds.

Police say based on the investigative theory in the initial phase, this does not appear to be a random act.

The surrounding area will be cordoned off for “a significant amount of time,” according to a Richmond RCMP news release. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) will work in partnership with Richmond RCMP.

Police are currently in the evidence gathering phase and no further information will be provided at this time. Further details and media availability will be handled by the IHIT media relations officer.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation, including anyone who may have been driving in the area at the time and have dash cam footage, can call the IHIT Information Line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or email ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
