B.C. adds 32 more COVID-19 deaths

Since Friday, 32 more British Columbians died from COVID-19.

In all, there have been 2,707 COVID-related deaths in the province. Of those who died since Friday, 14 lived in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, nine in the Fraser Health region, five in the Island Health region, three in the Interior Health region and one in the Northern Health region.

B.C. health officials reported 3,287 new cases of COVID-19 since Friday. Since the pandemic began, B.C. has recorded 333,925 cases.

Of the new cases, 440 are in the Vancouver Coastal Health region (including Richmond), 864 in the Fraser Health region, 478 in the Island Health region, 999 in the Interior Health region, 499 in the Northern Health region, and seven new cases of people who reside outside of Canada.

There are 23,739 active cases of COVID-19 in B.C. and 987 COVID-positive individuals are in hospital, 141 of whom are in intensive care. 

To date, 10,968,111 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca and Pfizer Pediatric COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in B.C.; 4,218,470 of those are second doses and 2,305,999 are third doses. 

This means that 93.4 per cent of adults, 93.0 per cent of people aged 12 and older, and 90.2 per cent of people aged five and older have received their first dose of a vaccine. In addition, 90.8 per cent of adults, 90.3 per cent of those aged 12 and older, and 84.6 per cent of those aged five and older have received two doses; 52.9 per cent of adults and 49.7 per cent of those aged 12-plus have received three doses.

Health authorities reported 11 new health-care facility outbreaks and declared 12 over. Active outbreaks continue at 50 long-term care facilities, two assisted or independent living facilities, and five acute care facilities.

From Jan. 28 to Feb. 3, people not fully vaccinated accounted for 24.8 per cent of cases. From Jan. 21 to Feb. 3, they accounted for 31.9 per cent of hospitalizations.

• Partially vaccinated: 473 (4.8 per cent)

• Fully vaccinated: 7,447 (75.2 per cent)

• Not vaccinated: 346 (26.8 per cent)

• Partially vaccinated: 66 (5.1 per cent)

• Fully vaccinated: 879 (68.1 per cent)

Past week, cases per 100,000 population after adjusting for age (Jan. 28 to Feb. 3)

• Not vaccinated: 409.4

• Partially vaccinated: 159.5

• Fully vaccinated: 207.5

Past two weeks, cases hospitalized per 100,000 population after adjusting for age (Jan. 21 to Feb. 3)

• Not vaccinated: 92.5

• Partially vaccinated: 53.0

• Fully vaccinated: 18.8
