BC Liberal MLA for Richmond North Centre Teresa Wat recently announced her endorsement of Kevin Falcon to be the party’s next leader.
“After (the party’s final leadership) debate, the choice became clear—Kevin Falcon is the only person ready to be the next leader of the BC Liberal Party, and the only candidate who can defeat the NDP in 2024,” said Wat. “Kevin has accomplished great things during his time in government for British Columbians. He oversaw many of the largest projects in B.C. history, including the Canada Line which was built in time for the Vancouver 2010 Olympics and runs right through my riding.”
Wat highlighted the work that Falcon has done to rebuild and renew the party.
“Kevin has already started the hard work of rebuilding the BC Liberal Party by engaging with members across BC, including being active in the Chinese and South Asian communities and embracing women in senior leadership roles on his team. I’m proud of the work he’s done, and that’s why I want to be a part of his team,” said Wat.
Wat became the 12th BC Liberal MLA to endorse Falcon’s leadership bid.
“I’m very excited to have Teresa’s endorsement and support for my leadership campaign,” said Falcon. “She is an accomplished leader in the Richmond community and has been a tremendous MLA for her constituents for the past decade. I’m looking forward to the work we’ll do together to rebuild our party and ensure we recruit a team of fantastic and diverse candidates to run for us in the next election.”
Falcon has served as the Deputy Premier, Minister of Finance, Minister of Health, and Minister of Transportation. He also received the endorsement of former Richmond–Steveston MLA John Yap.
The BC Liberal Party will vote for their new leader between tomorrow and Feb. 5.
