Lansdowne Centre is giving back to the Richmond Food Bank this Chinese New Year.

A lucky tiger, who will be displayed at the mall through Feb. 15, is stuffed full of non-perishable food items donated by Lansdowne tenant T&T Supermarket. A contest invites people to guess the tiger’s weight, make a cash donation to the Richmond Food Bank, and fill out a wish card with their dreams for the Year of the Tiger.

“We came up with this fun and creative idea because Lunar New Year is all about family, sharing, and giving,” says marketing manager Bronwyn Bailey. “Despite the pandemic, Lansdowne Centre has stayed open to provide essential service to the public. We are proud of that and, at the same time, we want to make it rewarding to the community as we celebrate this important festival.”

The winner will receive $388 in gift cards to Lansdowne Centre stores, and the mall will match cash donations up to $5,000. The items inside the tiger will also be donated to the food bank.

People can also walk through a peach tree orchard with a meandering pebble path, which is located in the mall’s centre court. And three Instagram frames that are hidden around the mall will allow people to immerse themselves in the experience. Photos can be uploaded to social media using the hashtag #lansdownecentre
