The Rotary Club of Richmond Sunset is reviving its annual Winter Wonderland event.

This is the 20th edition of the event, following a hiatus last year due to the pandemic. This year’s Winter Wonderland takes place outdoors on the North Plaza of City Hall where 34 live trees have been sponsored. The decorating was done by Rotary Interactors of Hugh Boyd Secondary School and Steveston-London Secondary School, and volunteers. After the event, the trees will be planted in various city parks.

Visitors enjoying the festive display are encouraged to take a photo among all the twinkling lights and bring along a non-perishable food item to drop-off in support of Richmond’s local food bank.

The sponsor funds raised from Winter Wonderland are reinvested into the local community. Some beneficiaries this year include the Richmond Hospital Foundation, Gateway Theatre, the Richmond Christmas Fund, Kwantlen Polytechnic University Endowment Fund for Scholarships, the Richmond Community Foundation Endowment Fund for Scholarships, Hugh Boyd Rotary Leadership Training and Steveston-London Rotary Leadership Training.

The Rotary Club of Richmond Sunset is also committed to raising money to help establish an endowment fund that focuses on maternal and child health.

Winter Wonderland will be on display in the Richmond City Hall Plaza (6911 No. 3 Road) from now until Jan. 4.

This event will adhere to all health and safety guidelines as set out by local and provincial health authorities where required.
