B.C. reports 758 new COVID-19 cases

According to today’s COVID-19 data provided by B.C. health officials, 26 per cent of those hospitalized with COVID-19 in the last two weeks were fully vaccinated.
In comparison, 67.7 per cent were unvaccinated and 6.3 per cent were partially vaccinated.
Health officials also reported 758 new cases, two of which are epidemiologically linked. Since the pandemic began, B.C. has recorded 204,330 cases.
Of the new cases, 74 are in the Vancouver Coastal Health region (including Richmond), 329 in the Fraser Health region, 114 in the Island Health region, 108 in the Interior Health region, 133 in the Northern Health region and no new cases of people who reside outside of Canada.
There are 4,961 active cases of COVID-19 in B.C. and 434 of those people are hospitalized, 155 of whom are in intensive care.
To date, 8,202,550 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna and AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in B.C.; 3,933,596 of those are second doses.
This means that 90.2 per cent of adults and 89.8 per cent of people aged 12 and older have received their first dose of a vaccine. In addition, 85.5 per cent of adults and 84.9 per cent of those aged 12 and older have received two doses.
Sadly, there were 10 new virus-related deaths reported today, bringing that total to 2,147. Of those who died, four lived in the Fraser Health region, four in the Interior Health region and two in the Northern Health region.
Health authorities reported one new healthcare facility outbreak. Active outbreaks continue at 19 long-term care facilities, eight assisted or independent living facilities and six acute care facilities.
From Oct. 20 to 26, people not fully vaccinated accounted for 64.7 per cent of cases.
From Oct. 13 to 26, they accounted for 74.0 per cent of hospitalizations.
