One resident has died during Richmond care home outbreak

One resident has passed away during the latest outbreak at a Richmond care home.
According to data from the B.C. Centre for Disease Control, there are currently five cases of COVID-19 associated with the outbreak at Richmond Lions Manor-Bridgeport care home, affecting three residents and two staff members.
One new healthcare facility outbreak was reported today in the Northern Health region. Active outbreaks are now ongoing at six long-term care, assisted living and independent living facilities and one acute care facility. The outbreak at Richmond Hospital, which was declared May 21, was listed as over by Vancouver Coastal Health on its website today.
Officials also reported 180 new cases of COVID-19 today, five of which are epidemiologically linked. Since the pandemic began, B.C. has recorded 146,176 cases.
Of the new cases, 11 are in the Vancouver Coastal Health region (including Richmond), 107 in the Fraser Health region, 13 in the Island Health region, 39 in the Interior Health region and 10 in the Northern Health region.
There are 1,880 active cases of COVID-19 in B.C. and 162 of those people are hospitalized, 45 of whom are in intensive care.
To date, 3,893,581 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna and AstraZeneca-SII COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in B.C.; 497,932 of those are second doses. This means that 75.1 per cent of adults in B.C. and 73.1 per cent of those aged 12-plus have received their first dose.
Sadly, there was one new virus-related death reported today, bringing that total to 1,730.
