B.C. COVID-19 cases down to 250 today

B.C. health authorities reported 250 new cases of COVID-19 today, one of which is epidemiologically linked. Since the pandemic began, B.C. has recorded 142,886 cases.

Of the new cases, 84 are in the Vancouver Coastal Health region (including Richmond), 109 in the Fraser Health region, nine in the Island Health region, 40 in the Interior Health region and eight in the Northern Health region.

There are 3,580 active cases of COVID-19 in B.C. and 296 of those people are hospitalized, 97 of whom are in intensive care. Compared to yesterday, hospitalizations decreased by five and critical care admissions increased by four.

To date, 2,979,951 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna and AstraZeneca-SII COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in B.C.; 152,010 of those are second doses. 

Sadly, there were three new virus-related deaths reported today, bringing that total to 1,683.

Active outbreaks continue at four long-term care, assisted living and independent living facilities and two acute care facilities, including Richmond Hospital.
