Local charity launches second face mask fundraiser

You may have collected quite a few face masks by now, but Richmond Cares, Richmond Gives is hoping there’s room for at least one more.
Partnering with Richmond-based Herbaland, Richmond Cares, Richmond Gives (RCRG) is re-launching a fundraising campaign called #WearTheBear. Together, they’re selling a face mask featuring RCRG’s Christmas Fund mascot and Herbaland’s blue gummy bear logo. The masks are $20 each, with all of proceeds supporting RCRG’s programs and services.
“Our first #WearTheBear campaign, in support of the Christmas Fund, was very successful,” says Ed Gavsie, president and CEO of RCRG. “When Herbaland approached us to do something similar, we were immediately on board. After all, two bears are better than one.”
RCRG has remained busy throughout the pandemic, most notably through its Seniors Community Support Services, which include grocery shopping and delivery, virtual visiting, and transportation to and from medical appointments.
“We operate the Christmas Fund during the holiday season, but our other services run year-round,” says Gavsie. “We work every day to support Richmond’s most vulnerable residents – from children to older adults – and this fundraising campaign will help broaden our reach and impact.”
As an added bonus, with every mask purchase, Herbaland will be including a reusable lunch bag, a pen, and a full-sized sour candy pouch.
“Herbaland is an amazing partner,” says Gavsie. “They have a global following, but they’re committed to the Richmond community. We’re excited to work with them on this initiative.”
