The world may be in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, but it hasn’t stopped volunteers from making their mark. If anything, their contributions may be felt more now than ever.

The Volunteers Are Stars Awards are back in virtual form, our chance to thank the many Richmond residents who have selflessly and courageously given their time to make our community stronger, healthier, and more resilient, especially during the past 12 months.

The nomination process recently concluded and the profiles of all 21 nominees are posted on the Richmond Cares, Richmond Gives website. They are stories of ordinary people doing extraordinary things, and while you might not know the nominees by name, you'll see that their areas of impact extend to every corner of the community, and perhaps even your own life. They’ll also be posting the profiles on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram until the end of National Volunteer Week on April 24. Follow along, like, share, and comment, so Richmond's volunteer spirit can travel far and wide across social media.

The winners will be announced on April 22, during a virtual ceremony. A recording of the event, and a video of each winner, will be shared on Richmond Cares, Richmond Gives’ website and social media channels.
