Richmond Night Market now open on weekends
The 17th annual Richmond Night Market opens Friday, with a distinctly patriotic theme.
Founder Raymond Cheung said the Asian-themed market will feature more food booths than ever before and this year, front and centre will be Canada 150, celebrating the nation's birthday.
The Canada 150 theme will be carried throughout the market, located beside River Rock Casino Resort in North Richmond, and next to the Bridgeport Station of the Canada Line.
From the inaugural night market in 2000 at Continental Centre, the market has evolved into one of the world's largest.
More than 30,000 people visit Richmond Night Market nightly at the peak of its season.
The market runs until Oct. 9 and is open Fridays and Saturdays from 7 p.m. to midnight, and Sundays and holidays from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
