Richmond RCMP are looking for witnesses to a hit-and-run incident involving a pedestrian.

The incident happened on the 8500 block of Ackroyd Road about 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 12. The pedestrian had just parked and exited his vehicle when he was allegedly struck by a silver or grey 1990s model Toyota Corolla.

As a result of the collision, the passenger side mirror came off of the suspect vehicle. It was recovered at the scene by police. The driver is described as an Asian female in her 50s.

The pedestrian was transported to a local area hospital where he was treated and has since been released.

“Fortunately, the pedestrian wasn’t seriously injured,” says Cpl. Adriana Peralta. “We want to remind the public that drivers are required to stop if involved in any type of collision. We are asking anyone who may have information to come forward. The driver or registered owner of this vehicle knows their passenger side mirror is missing and we ask they do the right thing and contact police.”

Anyone with information regarding this investigation, is asked to contact Richmond RCMP at 604-278-1212 and quote file number 2021-1061. Should you wish to remain anonymous, please contact Crimestoppers by phone at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
