Marika Lopez never tires of extending a helping hand.

The young Richmondite helped raise $1,000 for the EPIC Foundation in just over a week on the virtual art auction Silent But Not Invisible. Her team includes two young women based in the United States—Jamie and Lindsey—as well as others behind the scenes.

The online auction held Nov. 6 to 14 supported the ongoing fight against invisible illnesses including epilepsy.

Earlier this year, Lopez raised funds for BC Children’s Hospital to say thanks for its ongoing support as she battles epilepsy.

“We need to help people with invisible illnesses know that they don’t have to be invisible and silent,” Lopez says. “We need to help break down the stigma of different invisible illnesses, and to fund several EPIC programs.”
