Richmond RCMP gears up for 10th Annual Toy Drive and VIP ball hockey tournament

Richmond RCMP is excited to host the 10th Annual Richmond RCMP Toy Drive tomorrow in support of the Richmond Christmas Fund, another program of Richmond Cares, Richmond Gives. Community members are invited to join us on Saturday, Nov. 23 at Lansdowne Centre from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. for a day of giving, fun, and family-friendly activities.
The Richmond RCMP Community Engagement Team has worked tirelessly to make this event a success, aiming to surpass last year’s record-breaking totals of $29,347 in donations and 2.3 tonnes of toys. Richmond RCMP is aiming to surpass these totals this year, calling on everyone to help make this the best Toy Drive yet.
“Our Community Engagement Team is dedicated to making the holiday season brighter for local families,” said with Superintendent Julie Drotar, senior operations officer for Richmond RCMP. “Our officers see the need within our community, and this Toy Drive is an incredible opportunity for everyone in Richmond to come together and make a meaningful impact. We’re grateful for the ongoing support of our community and look forward to another successful event.”
“This continues to be an amazing partnership between Richmond RCMP and Richmond Cares, Richmond Gives,” says Ed Gavsie, president and chief executive officer of Richmond Cares, Richmond Gives, “The need in our community is much greater than many people realize. We are so fortunate that the donations for the Toy Drive have increased each year to help meet the needs. We encourage people to come out and support this event so we ensure that everyone can celebrate in the spirit of the holidays.”
How to participate
- When: Saturday, Nov. 23, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Where: Lansdowne Centre (by the Canada Line station)
- What to bring: New, unwrapped toys or a cash donation
- Bonus: Mini donuts and a Richmond Sockeyes game ticket for every donation, while supplies last.
V.I.P. ball hockey extravaganza
As part of the event, special guests from the community along with officers from Richmond RCMP and players from the Richmond Sockeyes will face off in mini three-on-three games from 10:15 to 10:45 a.m. Come out and cheer them on, or for a $ 20.00 donation members of the public will be able to take five shots against the Richmond Sockeyes goalie.
Early toy donations welcome
If you’re unable to attend, you can still support the Toy Drive by dropping off new, unwrapped toys at any Richmond RCMP community police office location or RBC Royal Bank location in Richmond.
