B.C. reports COVID-19 data from Sept. 18 to 24

In the past week (Sept. 18 to 24) there were 635 new COVID-19 cases reported in B.C., bringing the overall total to 384,900 since the pandemic began.

Of the new cases, 135 were in the Vancouver Coastal Health region (including Richmond), 180 in the Fraser Health region, 141 in the Island Health region, 143 in the Interior Health region, and 36 in the Northern Health region.

The number of reported new cases the previous week (Sept. 11 to 17) decreased by one to 636.

As of today, there are 367 people currently hospitalized with COVID-19 in B.C., 30 of whom are in critical care.

There were 150 new hospital admissions in the past week (Sept. 18 to 24). Of those, 31 were in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, 56 in the Fraser Health region, 25 in the Island Health region, 26 in the Interior Health region, and 12 in the Northern Health region. According to the B.C. Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) report, these numbers are expected to increase as data become more complete.

The number of COVID-19 admissions in the previous week (Sept. 11 to 17) increased to 203 from the 155 originally reported last week.

There were 30 new critical care admissions in the past week (Sept. 18 to 24). Of those, three were in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, 13 in the Fraser Health region, five in the Island Health region, five in the Interior Health region, and four in the Northern Health region. According to the B.C. Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) report, these numbers are expected to increase as data become more complete.

The number of critical care admissions in the previous week (Sept. 11 to 17) increased to 29 from the 27 originally reported last week.

The 30-day all-cause mortality report, which includes COVID-19 and non-COVID-19 related deaths occurring within 30 days from a positive lab result, indicates there were 16 deaths between Sept. 18 and 24.

Of those who died, five lived in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, four in the Fraser Health region, three in the Island Health region, four in the Interior Health region, and zero in the Northern Health region. According to the B.C. Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) report, these numbers are expected to increase as data become more complete.

The number of COVID-19 deaths in the previous week (Sept. 11 to 17) increased to 31 from the 22 originally reported last week. Deaths the previous week (Sept. 4 to 10) increased by three to 29.

Locally, the latest data from the BCCDC indicates that there were 36 cases in Richmond last week (Sept. 18 to 24), up from 30 the previous week (Sept. 11 to 17).
