B.C. reports COVID-19 data from Aug. 28 to Sept. 3

In the past week (Aug. 28 to Sept. 3) there were 617 new COVID-19 cases reported in B.C., bringing the overall total to 383,054 since the pandemic began.

Of the new cases, 149 were in the Vancouver Coastal Health region (including Richmond), 231 in the Fraser Health region, 86 in the Island Health region, 114 in the Interior Health region, and 37 in the Northern Health region.

As of today, there are 324 people currently hospitalized with COVID-19 in B.C., 22 of whom are in critical care.

There were 147 new hospital admissions in the past week (Aug. 28 to Sept. 3). Of those, 40 were in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, 42 in the Fraser Health region, 25 in the Island Health region, 29 in the Interior Health region, and 11 in the Northern Health region. According to the B.C. Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) report, these numbers are expected to increase as data become more complete.

The number of COVID-19 admissions in the previous week (Aug. 21 to 27) increased to 198 from the 160 originally reported last week.

There were 25 new critical care admissions in the past week (Aug. 28 to Sept. 3). Of those, five were in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, 11 in the Fraser Health region, one in the Island Health region, six in the Interior Health region, and two in the Northern Health region. According to the B.C. Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) report, these numbers are expected to increase as data become more complete.

The number of critical care admissions in the previous week (Aug. 21 to 27) increased to 27 from the 25 originally reported last week.

The 30-day all-cause mortality report, which includes COVID-19 and non-COVID-19 related deaths occurring within 30 days from a positive lab result, indicates there were 22 deaths between Aug. 28 and Sept. 3. 

Of those who died, four lived in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, six in the Fraser Health region, three in the Island Health region, eight in the Interior Health region, and one in the Northern Health region. According to the B.C. Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) report, these numbers are expected to increase as data become more complete.

The number of COVID-19 deaths in the previous week (Aug. 21 to 27) increased to 43 from the 33 originally reported last week. Deaths the previous week (Aug. 14 to 20) increased by six to 51.

Locally, the latest data from the BCCDC indicates that there were 19 cases in Richmond last week (Aug. 28 to Sept. 3), down from 26 the previous week (Aug. 21 to 27).
