B.C. reports COVID-19 data from Aug. 14 to 20

In the past week (Aug. 14 to 20) there were 737 new COVID-19 cases reported in B.C., bringing the overall total to 381,788 since the pandemic began.

Of the new cases, 157 were in the Vancouver Coastal Health region (including Richmond), 224 in the Fraser Health region, 161 in the Island Health region, 152 in the Interior Health region, and 43 in the Northern Health region.

As of today, there are 331 people currently hospitalized with COVID-19 in B.C., 29 of whom are in critical care.

There were 180 new hospital admissions in the past week (Aug. 14 to 20). Of those, 38 were in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, 61 in the Fraser Health region, 46 in the Island Health region, 26 in the Interior Health region, and nine in the Northern Health region. According to the B.C. Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) report, these numbers are expected to increase as data become more complete.

The number of COVID-19 admissions in the previous week (Aug. 7 to 13) increased to 231 from the 181 originally reported last week.

There were 41 new critical care admissions in the past week (Aug. 14 to 20). Of those, five were in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, 21 in the Fraser Health region, five in the Island Health region, seven in the Interior Health region, and three in the Northern Health region. According to the B.C. Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) report, these numbers are expected to increase as data become more complete.

The number of critical care admissions in the previous week (Aug. 7 to 13) increased to 32 from the 29 originally reported last week.

The 30-day all-cause mortality report, which includes COVID-19 and non-COVID-19 related deaths occurring within 30 days from a positive lab result, indicates there were 33 deaths between Aug. 14 and 20. 

Of those who died, six lived in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, eight in the Fraser Health region, 12 in the Island Health region, seven in the Interior Health region, and none in the Northern Health region. According to the B.C. Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) report, these numbers are expected to increase as data become more complete.

The number of COVID-19 deaths in the previous week (Aug. 7 to 13) increased to 43 from the 24 originally reported last week. Deaths the previous week (July 31 to Aug. 6) increased by four to 44.

Locally, the latest data from the BCCDC indicates that there were 39 cases in Richmond last week (Aug. 14 to 20), up from 31 the previous week (Aug. 7 to 13).
