B.C. reports COVID-19 data from July 31 to Aug. 6

In the past week (July 31 to Aug. 6) there were 900 new COVID-19 cases reported in B.C., bringing the overall total to 380,174 since the pandemic began.

Of the new cases, 218 were in the Vancouver Coastal Health region (including Richmond), 290 in the Fraser Health region, 169 in the Island Health region, 183 in the Interior Health region, and 40 in the Northern Health region.

As of today, there are 385 people currently hospitalized with COVID-19 in B.C., 23 of whom are in critical care.

There were 173 new hospital admissions in the past week (July 31 to Aug. 6). Of those, 51 were in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, 54 in the Fraser Health region, 28 in the Island Health region, 32 in the Interior Health region, and eight in the Northern Health region. According to the B.C. Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) report, these numbers are expected to increase as data become more complete.

The number of COVID-19 admissions in the previous week (July 24 to 30) increased to 312 from the 242 originally reported last week.

There were 35 new critical care admissions in the past week (July 31 to Aug. 6). Of those, 10 were in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, 17 in the Fraser Health region, three in the Island Health region, two in the Interior Health region, and three in the Northern Health region. According to the B.C. Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) report, these numbers are expected to increase as data become more complete.

The number of critical care admissions in the previous week (July 24 to 30) increased to 38 from the 35 originally reported last week.

The 30-day all-cause mortality report, which includes COVID-19 and non-COVID-19 related deaths occurring within 30 days from a positive lab result, indicates there were 28 deaths between July 31 and Aug. 6.

Of those who died, eight lived in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, three in the Fraser Health region, seven in the Island Health region, six in the Interior Health region, and four in the Northern Health region. According to the B.C. Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) report, these numbers are expected to increase as data become more complete.

The number of COVID-19 deaths in the previous week (July 24 to 30) increased to 54 from the 28 originally reported last week. 

Locally, the latest data from the BCCDC indicates that there were 33 cases in Richmond last week (July 31 to Aug. 6), down from 36 the previous week (July 24 to 30).
