Celebrate BC Family Day at the 12th annual Richmond Children’s Arts Festival presented by Lansdowne Centre. The Richmond Cultural Centre will be home to a variety of hands-on activities, literary and performing arts from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 17. All the event details and schedule are available at www.childrensartsfestival.ca.
See and hear talented youth throughout the festival site. Performances on the Sonic Garden Stage presented by Cowell Auto Group will include youth-filled bands like the Langley Ukulele Ensemble, young marimba all-stars Muevete, and 12-year-old-fronted rock band, Hunter J and the Jets.
Between sets, audiences can witness a thrilling yo-yo challenge in front of the stage. Harrison Lee, three-time Canadian National Freestyle Yo-yo Champion, will duel two-time Canadian National Yo-yo Champion, Terrance Wang.
Inside the Richmond Public Library, author workshops and readings will take place on the Once Upon A Time Stage. Kids Power Society – a collection of young authors ages 5 to 11 – will read from their storybook, Kids Power Academy: Superheroes Assembly, a creative writing collection published as a fundraiser for the BC Children’s Hospital. Bring your budding young authors to be inspired.
Admission ($5 per person, ages three and up) is available at the gate. New this year: guests with proof of purchase from any Lansdowne Centre store will receive free admission. Present a receipt with a 2020 date at the special Lansdowne Centre Express Line for quick entrance onto the site. Admission is also free to children ages two years or younger.
The Children’s Arts Festival is produced by the City of Richmond and presented by Lansdowne Centre. The Sonic Garden is presented by Cowell Auto Group. Community sponsors are Richmond Public Library and OOK Enterprises. Media sponsors are Richmond News, QMFM and 93.7 JR Country.
