Artist-in-residence announces free classes and workshops

Branscombe House Artist-in-Residence Krystal Kiran will be hosting a series of free community classes, workshops, seminars and more beginning in April.
Registered and drop-in programs will be offered weekly, bi-weekly and monthly through mid-December. Some of Kiran’s programs include:
• Dance as Meditation: ages 16-plus; a movement class incorporating yoga, Pilates, breath work, musical exploration and meditation; offered weekly on Sundays from April 3 through Dec. 11
• Music Makers: Open Acoustic Jam with Krystal Kiran and Matt Young: for ages 19-plus; drop-in open rehearsal music sessions offered bi-weekly on Tuesdays from April 12 through Dec. 6
• Seniors Seva: ages 55-plus; a movement/wellness class offered the first Sunday of the month from April 3 through Dec. 4
• Heads Together Book Club: Creating Branscombe’s Virtual Library: ages 19-plus; an in-person/virtual book club meeting the first Thursday of the month from April 7 through Dec. 1
• Courage to Dream Seminar Series: ages 16-plus; thematic seminars offered the first Saturday of the month from April 2 through Dec. 3
Some activities are offered as hybrid programs, available to attend in-person and/or via livestream on Instagram (@BranscombeHouse) or Zoom. Learn more and RSVP at the artist’s blog. In-person activities will follow current public health orders and City of Richmond protocols.
Kiran is a Punjabi-Canadian performing artist and educator whose practice explores “third culture” identity and the arts as healing practices. She has performed locally, on Broadway, and toured internationally as an actor, dancer and choreographer.
The Branscombe House Artist Residency takes place in a restored Edwardian-style house in the residential area of historic Steveston. Branscombe House is located at 4900 Steveston Hwy. and is one of the earliest homes built in the area.
