Trying to plan your wedding, but feeling confused or overwhelmed?

On Feb. 23, Richmond plays host to the 12th annual “A Wedding Affair” show, put on by event planning group Imagine That Events.

“We’re trying to make it a boutique style show, so when (people) come in they aren’t being bombarded,” explains Imagine That Events co-owner Laura Takasaki.

Over 50 vendors will set up for the show next weekend at River Rock Casino Resort. Takasaki says most have been at the show for about 10 years. Several vendors are based in Richmond, including Steveston’s Sinfully The Best sweet shop and Cool Creations, an ice sculpture company.

“It’s about the experience of actually getting time to talk with the vendors and getting good information,” says Takasaki. She adds that even couples who have already booked vendors can learn more from attending wedding shows like this.

If the opportunity to learn more isn’t enough of a draw to attend, there’s also a chance to win massive prizes.

“We have our $10,000 grand prize, which is all donated by our vendors,” says Takasaki. And one vendor, Destination Weddings By Kiki, gives away a trip for two to Mexico.

For each vendor category, the show offers several options based on style or price range. Takasaki explains that Imagine That Events works with many of the vendors throughout the year, so they can be sure that their recommendations are solid.

“We have a lot of (groups) that make it an afternoon,” says Takasaki, adding that the event is designed to be fun and informative.

Tickets to “A Wedding Affair” are $25 per person and can be purchased online. Bride or groom admission tickets include entry to the event’s grand prize.
