Two people have been arrested following a Thursday night assault inside the Pioneer Pub at No. 3 Road and Williams.
Richmond Mounties were called shortly before 8 p.m. to a call of shots fired and a man holding a firearm and wearing a balaclava.
RCMP Cpl. Dennis Hwang said a 32-year-old man, who was inside the pub, was assaulted by a man wearing dark clothing.
The man was allegedly struck in the head with a part of the firearm, which investigators believe is a shotgun.
The suspect fled in a light-coloured vehicle that had other occupants inside.
The victim, police said, appeared to be specifically targeted. He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. He has not been cooperative with investigators, Hwang said.
A suspect vehicle was found by Vancouver Police around 9 p.m. in Vancouver, near Ross Street and Marine Drive. Vancouver Police and members of the Emergency Response Team assisted Richmond Mounties.
Two men, ages 19 and 22, are currently in custody.
Both the victims and suspects are known to police.
“Our investigators were able to confirm that no shots were fired, nor any hostages involved,” Hwang said. “These types of incidents are always treated very seriously and illustrate the dynamic and fluid circumstances that police must contend with on a daily basis. Further it highlights the importance of accurate information.”
