Practice caution in food service sector

—
BC health officials continue to urge food services to use caution.
An amended provincial health order issued this week includes enhanced guidelines for workers. Ensuring employees and patrons have the space to stay safe is the best way to avoid spreading COVID-19.
Food service owners must plan for layers of protection in the kitchen and dining area, along with frequent hand washing and cleaning, barriers in kitchens and dining areas, and lots of space between tables.
Patrons should consider their health, the size of their group, and whether the establishment they are visiting has a clearly posted WorkSafeBC safety plan and physical distancing measures and barriers in place.
Health Minister Adrian Dix and provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry also announced 16 new cases who have tested positive today for a total of 2,709 in the province.
There was also one new COVID-19 related death in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, marking the 168th related death since the start of the pandemic.
There were no new health-care facility outbreaks, with active outbreaks continuing at five long-term care or assisted-living facilities. There were also no new community outbreaks and public health teams continue to provide support for the six ongoing community outbreaks.
