Although the number of new COVID-19 cases in BC has been low in recent weeks, the global pandemic is far from over.

That was the message from Health Minister Adrian Dix and provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry during their update today.

The global case count continues to rise, with many regions facing a resurgence in cases. Yesterday was the highest single day for new cases globally.

“Here in BC, our path forward is to minimize, manage and modify: minimize the number of new cases and close contacts, manage clusters and outbreaks with rapid contact tracing by public health teams and, as needed, modify the measures we are all following,” said Henry and Dix.

They also announced nine new positive COVID-19 cases and one new epi-linked case for a total of 2,669 cases in British Columbia.

There were no new COVID-19 related deaths or health-care facility outbreaks, with active outbreaks still at four long-term care or assisted-living facilities.

There were also no new community outbreaks and public health teams are providing support for the six ongoing community outbreaks.
