Expect PANDAmonium for a good cause at Aberdeen Centre in a little more than a week.

Some 500 cuddly plush pandas will be placed up for adoption, with all proceeds going to the Richmond Christmas Fund.

The pandas will be available for TWO DAYS ONLY at Aberdeen Centre: Saturday, Sept. 8 and Sunday, Sept. 9, from noon to 4 p.m.

Volunteers will be selling the pandas for $25 each (cash only) on a first-come, first-served basis.

Aberdeen Centre has been transformed into a bamboo oasis for the summer, with the central atrium playing home to nine origami panda sculptures ranging from one metre to three metres in height.

These hand-made masterpieces peek out from between the greenery, creating a magical place for children and adults alike.

“The money raised from this initiative will help our community’s most vulnerable families,” says Ed Gavsie, president of Richmond Cares, Richmond Gives. “We’re truly grateful for Aberdeen’s support, and for making this wonderful fundraising opportunity possible.”

This year, the Richmond Christmas Fund is expected to serve 2,100 people, providing them with toys, books, gift cards and grocery vouchers.
