Summer Reading Clubs are coming to an end but there is one more important milestone that we hope you will join us for. Mark your calendars and get ready to have some fun on Sunday, Sept. 7 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Brighouse library. Everyone is invited to come and celebrate the reading successes of over 4,000 children and teens who participated in Summer Reading Club this year.

Join Mayor Malcolm Brodie, library board trustees and local dignitaries at this free, fun-filled, family-friendly event, which will feature hands-on literacy-themed activities and games. Each child that participated in this year’s Summer Reading Club is eligible to receive a special completion medal. Starting on Wednesday, Sept. 3, you can visit any RPL location to pick up your medal, or you can receive it at the event.

“BC Summer Reading Club encourages kids to read for fun, which helps them build confidence in their reading abilities and develop a more positive attitude toward reading, while at the same time engaging with library staff all summer long,” says Kate Adams, Head of Children & Family Services at Richmond Public Library. “We hope you’ll join us in recognizing the work and dedication of all this year’s readers.”

This event is drop-in; no registration is required. For more information, visit yourlibrary.ca/srckids. We can’t wait to see you there.
