As the only big screen, free movie viewing in Richmond, Lansdowne Centre is hosting the event in the community this August with a new twist—indoors with a choice of dinner at one of our local food outlets.
Every Thursday at 7 p.m. from August 7 to 28, Lansdowne’s Indoor Summer Park, in front of the food court, will transform into a cozy after-hours cinema, featuring a lineup of family favourites, date-night picks, Hollywood hits, and nostalgic blockbusters, all screened in air-conditioned comfort. The north (Alderbridge Way at Earl’s) and east (Kwantlen Street at Happy Lamb) entrances will remain open.
From now until July 29, movie lovers can vote for their choice of films on Instagram @lansdownecentrebc. The first round of voting, taking place from July 16 to July 24, will determine featured films for the first two weeks. The second round, running from July 21 to July 29, will decide the two final titles. The complete movie schedule will be announced on July 31.
“We are very excited to bring this free event back to Lansdowne Centre offering the community to watch a movie together, this time, on a giant LED screen. People can come for dinner and stay for movie or come for movie and stay for dinner, whichever they prefer. Also, we are happy to support the St. John Ambulance Youth Program by offering them everything necessary to put together a popcorn sales drive,” says Bronwyn Bailey, marketing manager at Lansdowne Centre.
The complete the experience, these food outlets will be open: Shogun, Fusion Curry & Donair, Taco Luis, Katte, Fresh Slice, Fusion Feast Pizza, My Coffee, Old Street Express, Fresh Elements, R&H Chinese Food, Bubble Waffle Cafe, Earls, Toku Japanese Restaurant, Gingeri Chinese Cuisine, and Happy Lamb Hotpot. Exclusive movie night specials are offered at both the Food Court and full-service restaurants.
During each movie night, a popcorn sales drive will be held onsite, with all proceeds and donations going directly to support the St. John Ambulance Youth Program in providing training in leadership, first aid, and personal development training for youth aged 9 to 18 in the community. The tenants are giving their overwhelming support behind the movie night and charity drive.
Seating is first-come, first-served, and guests are encourage to arrive early to enjoy dinner and settle in before showtime.
