On March 31, at a lovely event hosted by Trinity Western University – Richmond, Ed Gavsie’s family, friends, and colleagues gathered to wish him a happy retirement.

As Richmond Cares, Richmond Gives’ (RCRG) president and chief executive officer for the past decade, and, prior to that, as a long-serving board member, Ed has left an edible mark on our organization. He was a fearless leader, an insightful mentor, and a jovial presence, always quick to lighten the mood with a joke.

At the same time, Ed was deeply serious about his work. He was committed to growing RCRG and broadening its impact, and improving the Richmond community overall. On both fronts, he was hugely successful.

When Ed became president and chief executive officer of RCRG, it was meant to be a temporary, short-term role. But circumstances change, time flies, and 10 years later, here we are. Between then and now are countless memories, achievements, and milestones. All of them speak to a brilliant community leader, who got us to where we are today.

Congratulations on your retirement, Ed, and thanks for everything.
